Performance of CFRP strengthened full-scale SHS connections subjected to cyclic loading

Square hollow section (SHS) beam–column connections are prevalent in steel structures and extensively used high seismic risk regions due to their significant architectural structural benefits. Rehabilitation strengthening of SHS important considerations the vulnerable effects cyclic loading. Studies on performance CFRP strengthened under large displacement loading are, however, very limited finite element (FE) modelling numerical approach not yet been developed. The objective current research is develop a FE simulate response connections. techniques validated by comparing model simulated results with authors’ experimental results. A detailed parametric study then conducted thickness beam column section, moment arm, scheme have shown improvements respect hysteresis response, stiffness energy dissipation capacity. Moreover, showed less tendency for buckling compared bare counterparts. Research findings present will be beneficial restore integrity through strengthening.
